On Thursday, June 15, 2017, the Young Professionals Group Ormond hosted its first Lunch & Learn event with Florida Hospital, one of its platinum sponsors for 2017. Members and guests of YPGO met at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center for lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Florida Hospital. The keynote speaker for the Lunch & Learn was Mallory Tluchowski, Business Development Coordinator with the Center for Health and Wellness who discussed the topic of work-life balance as a young professional.

Mallory Tluchowski graduated from Stetson University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, double majoring in Management and Family Enterprise, and competed as a NCAA Division 1 women’s lacrosse player. Mallory found a passion for health and wellness in her roles at Stetson as the President of the Wellness Interns and Vice President of the Student Athletic Advisory Council. During her time at Stetson she crated outreach programs for students centered around improving overall health and wellness. Mallory has a passion for providing a safe and exciting environment to help members reach their goals, as well as developing a thriving team of staff members who together work to create the best member experience possible.

Mallory spoke all about work-life balance and how she has struggled to maintain a harmony between the two. By utilizing the talents of her team members at work, she learned to delegate and therefore focus on the areas that really need her expertise. To finish off her talk, Mallory provided us with a few tips and tricks to alleviate the stress of an unbalanced life.

After our YPGO members and guests finished up their lunch, Mallory took us on a tour of the new Center for Health and Wellness at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. This is truly a beautiful facility that most of us had no clue existed. The Health and Wellness Center is available to staff, out-patient therapy, and members of the community. Memberships are available for students, individuals, seniors, and families. The facility features a large selection of cardio equipment, strength training machines and free weights. There are group fitness classes that are offered that include cycling and yoga. If there is a not a group class available, the fitness rooms are equipped with a integrated content system called “WELLBEATS”. The system allows you to actually choose a fitness class that you would like to participate in, which is then projected through a large flat screen TV. Personal trainers, specialty programs, locker rooms, and child care round out some of the other ammendities provided.

The first Young Professionals Group Ormond Lunch & Learn was very successful and we are looking forward to hosting our next one with Florida Hospital. Mark your calendars early for Wednesday, September 20th. You will not want to miss our next speaker!
