On April 6th we hosted our Young Professionals Group Ormond April Networking Social. We teamed up with our friends at Saldo’s Pizzeria to once again host another fantistic social filled with delicious Italian food, great people, and another wonderful non-profit organization. The YPGO featured non-profit organization for April was Conklin Center for the Blind.
Conklin Center for the Blind is a human services agency for multi disabled blind and visually-impaired adults and children. Students at the Daytona Beach campus learn functional daily living skills and receive vocational training in both their on-site workshop and through work experience placements in local businesses. Just as importantly, they develop social skills necessary for community living. Conklin Center takes great pride in that more than 85% of students who complete their training program each year become gainfully employed, graduate to futher academic or vacational training, or gain sufficiant skills to be more self-reliant.
Young Professional Group Ormond was thrilled to be able to raise and contribute $250.00 to the mission of Conklin Center for the Blind. Before the check presentation, we were lucky enough to receive a tour of Conklin Center for the Blind and were able to see where students lived, where they received training, and the many resources that are provided.
We hope that everyone had a wonderful time at the YPGO April Networking Social and we look forward to seeing you again in May for our May the Fourth Be With You Networking Social at Stonewood Grill & Tavern!
